The 2019 Quality Payment Program final rule issued various changes to the MIPS Promoting Interoperability (PI) category and measures. Because CMS aims to align the PI programs with the overall agency initiatives directed to the treatment of opioid and substance use disorders, two measures under the e-Prescribing objective focus on querying a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and verifying the existence of an opioid treatment agreement. This QPP Power Hour will address these changes and how they affect tracking prescribed controlled substances and improving prescribing practices.
